The 5th Month of Life

Dear Lily,

This month has been a very eventful one, indeed. You are getting very good at rolling on your side and are coming so close to getting all the way over. You hate tummy time so we don't get a chance to practice rolling from tummy to back very much. You love to chew on anything and everything, but mostly things that aren't your toys, i.e. remotes, phones, magazines, etc. You've also become a pro at holding and manipulating your toys so as to get as much as you possibly can into your mouth. You haven't learned any new sounds yet, but you love practicing the ones you do know. I think telling your stories is your favorite part of being a baby so far. The most exciting thing has been starting "solid" foods. We have only tried rice cereal thus far but you seem to like it.

First bite... not so sure
Then you were so excited about it, you wanted to do it
yourself! We needed a bath after this first attempt.
After that you were a pro, opening wide and loving
every moment.

I think the Grandparents had more fun than you, you are quite entertaining!

This video is very dark, but it is very cute.
Sophie and Mom were playing tug-of-war
and you started laughing so hard.
I had never heard you laugh so much,
you didn't even care that you were being filmed.
You sure do love your Sophie.

Mom and Dad Time

Really, Mom? More pictures?

Taking your pictures this month was a little more difficult
as you are much more mobile and I lost your stickers.
At least I got this one, the rest were not as successful...
So I had to hold it up and take the picture

You found the paper...

Which did not work...

You also found the camera string to be quite tasty.
This entry is in memory of your Great Papa Wyatt who passed away this month.
He was an amazing man who loved you so much.
I hope you know how much light you bring to the world.

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear

Miss Lily,

What a fun and busy month this has been for you! Your growth and development continues to amaze us, we have such a wonderful time learning new things with you.
Your favorite toy is your hands; you grab anything within reach and promptly put it in your mouth. You are even starting to try to hold your bottle. You're getting better at rolling on your side, but haven't been able to get all the way over yet. You are still chatting up a storm every day, and have learned how to "yell" (or talk very loudly), which you enjoy doing very much.
Our favorite new trick you can do is giggle. Nothing has ever made me happier in this whole world than listening to you laugh, especially because it's in response to something silly I'm doing. Finally, someone who gets my jokes! It has been incredibly difficult to get this amazing event on film, however, because as soon as you see the camera you get very distracted. This is the best video we have so far, hopefully there will be more to come!

Here you are talking to your toys, you like to tell them stories.

Watching Elmo with Daddy. As you can see, you are quite
mesmerized by electronic appliances. Anything to
make you happy!!
Auntie Em and Uncle Kyle feeding you. How cute!

You had fun making Christmas cookies with your Grandmas, and I know they had fun, too!

Even Great Grandma got in on the cookie fun.
You cared more about her light up necklace than you did
about the cookies, though.

Christmas time at Grandma Sharon's was a blast! She spoiled you with lots of gifts and you also enjoyed cuddling with everyone, including Uncle John, Sebastian and Xander.

Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder's was a success.
Here you are with Mommy playing on your new piano. You
can never start learning these things too early!
Opening presents at Mamaw's. You were excited for your
new CD of silly songs from Uncle Chiz.
Family Christmas photo
Four generation photo, and yes this was the best one in the bunch.
You can't imagine how difficult it was to get us all to cooperate for this.
Overall, Christmas was a success. It took us about a week
to recover, but you managed to score some great loot
and looked super cute while doing it!

You are such a beautiful growing girl and we are so proud of you.
Things we are working on this month: getting you to sleep without rocking you and getting you to stay asleep at night.

Giving Thanks, 3 Months and Other Shenanigans

Lily E,
Hello pumpkin! This has been quite an exciting month for you. Here are some highlights:

This picture shows how absolutely perfect you are. Your face is probably the most perfect, however, as this
picture clearly shows.

You started "talking" a lot more and have even begun to imitate sounds. The "ggg" is your favorite; you even said "ga" after your Grandma Schroeder was trying to get you to say Grandma! You are also imitating faces. You like when we stick our tounge out at you and concentrate very hard until you can stick yours out, too. You're basically the smartest baby ever.

Here's a little story you were telling Mom.

Pretty much the only time you nap for longer than 20 minutes is when
someone is holding you. I  don't think Grandpa minds, though :)

You have finally found your hands. I believe it's
comforting for you to suck on your fingers
because you are teething. Yes, at just 2 1/2
months we found two teeth coming in!!
Here you are exploring with your hands some more.
You love your Daddy so much.

Thanksgiving

Being such a big girl on Thanksgiving.

GG got you to sleep. What a good Grandma!

Hanging out with Great Grandpa Zeunen.

Your first road trip was to Kentucky to see Papa Wyatt and
Grandma Jackie. Thanks to a handy dandy portable DVD
player and some Elmo, you had an excellent ride! (Please
don't judge us for resorting to TV at such a young age! We feel
it's better than letting you cry inconsolably for 5 hours!)

You had such a great time because there were so many people
there to hold and entertain you. Here you are with Aunt Glora.

Great Grandma Jackie did a great job of making sure you
 were always happy.
Four generation photo. Great Papa Wyatt, Mamaw, Daddy and Lily!
Here you are at three months. Our first real snow
happened this day. This pic is also great because
it shows how awesomely strong you are sitting in your
Bumbo all by yourself.

2 Months Old

Dearest Lily-poo,

Two months, really? I feel like it was just the other day we were taking your one month pictures. You have grown so much since then, though. Probably the coolest thing about you this month is your responsiveness. You smile so big and so much, it has sure made life a lot easier to see those beautiful smiles throughout the day. You are awake for longer periods of time now (without crying!) and you like to look at whoever is playing with you and smile. You are such a squiggle butt- if we don't have you swaddled up tight your legs are going like you're running a marathon and your arms are everywhere. You've recently found your face and like to grab at your eye sockets and pull your hair. You never seem to mind, though, you're just curious. And we may be a little biased, but we're pretty sure you are the most adorable baby who ever existed in this world. (I think the Grandparents would back us up on this one!) None of us can believe how absolutely beautiful you are. Below is our proof:

Our little ballerina.

Happy because we gave up trying to put you inside
the pumpkin for pictures!

Happy First Halloween!

You fell asleep on Daddy's hand while he was burping you.
Look at those kissable lips!
In this video I would like you to note:
1. Rock star hair
2. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot arms
3. Super cute coo at the end

This video shows how responsive you've become to people.
Plus there's a few really cute sneezes.
Let's face it, everything you do is just plain CUTE!

Here are some of Mom's attempts at taking a picture of you when you're smiling.
You are so squirmy it's difficult to get a good one!
Hard to believe you're even more adorable in real life than you are in these pics!

Here are some more random pictures of you, just because you're super cute!

Playing with Auntie Em. She gave you your first dance lesson!

Super duper cutie pie pose.

Playing with your new swing because,  yes, at just 2 months
old you already wore out your first one!

2 Month Stats:

Weight: 12 lbs 11oz
Height: 22 1/4 inches

95th percentile height and weight! Doc said you are a perfect and healthy baby! (she even mentioned you were advanced because you were starting to roll already and had excellent trunk control!)
